Building capacity and supporting communities in the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Kitimat

The First West Foundation grants $382,501 to 33 charities in Envision Financial region in 2016

The First West Foundation is pleased to announce the 2016 recipients of the Envision Financial Community Endowment Grants. This year grants in the Envision region are funding projects supporting vulnerable populations. Additionally, recognizing the opportunity to strengthen the important work being done in the social services sector, grants have also been provided to support organizational development initiatives such as leadership training and workshops to help improve the skills and capacity of staff or volunteers.

Thirty-three organizations were selected to receive grants. These include:

  • Abbotsford Food Bank – Starfish Packs Program $10,000

  • Abbotsford Restorative Justice & Advocacy Association – Expansion into Middle Schools $9,500

  • Abbotsford Youth Commission – LIFE Project: Summer Programming $5,220

  • Ann Davis Transition Society (Chilliwack) – Parenting Time $18,000

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley (Chilliwack) – Human Services Career Program $16,400

  • Big Brothers of Greater Vancouver (Coquitlam) –Mentorship Program $10,000

  • Cares Counselling Society (Mission & Abbotsford)– Anxiety Support Groups $7,540

  • CEED Centre Society (Maple Ridge) – Blue Door Youth Services $20,000

  • Children of the Street (Abbotsford, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge) – School-based Prevention Workshops $15,000

  • Chilliwack Community Services – Adult Family Literacy $15,000

  • Chilliwack Senior Peer Counsellors – Training Trainers & Volunteers Program $4,140

  • Delta Community Living Society – Leadership Training $10,000

  • Delta Hospital Foundation (Delta, Tsawwassen) – Strategic Planning: Expansion of the Mission $10,000

  • Deltassist Family & Community Services Society – Self-Referred Anger Management Program $20,831

  • Encompass Support Services Society (Langley) – Youth Resource Hub $15,000

  • Greater Vancouver Youth for Christ (Mission) – MY House $16,020

  • Hope & Area Transition Society – Thunderbird Motel Project: Aboriginal Outreach Worker $12,732

  • Kateslem Youth Society (Coquitlam) – After School Program (Hygiene unit) $5,000

  • Kitimat Community Services Society – Kitimat Foodshare Upgrade $3,500

  • Kitimat Senior Citizens’ Association – Hearing Loop System $4,487

  • Kitimat Understanding the Environment Society – Baler for Paper Product Recycling $8,000

  • Langley Community Services Society – Diversity, Inclusion & Sensitivity Training $7,595

  • Langley Senior Resources Society – Outreach Services Program $10,000

  • Mission Literacy in Motion Association – English Grammar Conversation & Culture Groups $1,350

  • Pacific Post-Partum Suppport Society (Cloverdale) – Support Groups $8,500

  • PUCKS Powerplay Foundation (Langley) – P.A.V.E. Program $7,000

  • Read Right Society (Hope) – Computer Technology Literacy $7,385

  • SOS Children’s Village BC (Surrey) – Pathway to Trauma Informed Care Workshops $10,000

  • Sources Community Resources Society (South Surrey, White Rock) – Empowerment Services – Survivors of Violence $19,956

  • Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation – Culturally Diverse Therapies for Youth $18,845

  • The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford) – Just Kids $15,000

  • Umoja Operation Compassion Society (Surrey) – Outreach Worker & After-School Program $25,000

  • United Way of the Lower Mainland (Langley, Aldergrove) – After School Club $15,500
