Community Grants Help Deliver Okanagan Impact with $113,700 in Funding

The First West Foundation, through its Valley First Community Endowment, is granting $113,700 this year – a total of 12 grants – to worthy charities across the Okanagan, Similkameen, and Thompson valleys, through a mix of funding streams including impact, capacity and SOAR grants, including multi-year commitments.

Through the lens of trust-based philanthropy, impact grants are unrestricted, investing in an organization’s operations, programs, projects or services and include alignment to one of First West Foundation’s six identified Sustainable Development Goals (1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 17).

Trust based philanthropy is making a real difference in First West Foundation’s granting practices through the Valley First Community Endowment.

“Thank you for being a leader in the field of philanthropy and taking such a progressive approach to grant-making. You are thoughtful in your approach, putting the needs of charities and the success of our programs first.”

Since 2011, the Valley First Community Endowment has provided 240 grants totalling $1,882,329, supporting communities in the Okanagan, Thompson and Similkameen regions.
